1st March 2019 – Dom Perignon Rose 2006 Launch Lunch
The end of 2018 saw Vincent Chaperon take over from Richard Geoffroy as Dom Pérignon’s Chef de Cave so 2019 marks a new chapter in Dom Pérignon’s history. This new appointment was coupled with the launch of the DP Rosé 2006 who’s official release was in March 2019. We were lucky enough to host a client lunch with Vincent to celebrate this new vintage ahead of its of its official release. The lunch was hosted in the private dining room at Pied-a-Terre with a perfectly matched menu for the DP Rosé vintages of 2003, 2004, 2005 and of course the 2006.
7th February 2019 - Bordeaux 10 Years On: 2009
This year marked our first ‘off-site’ 10 Years On tasting and 2009 seemed an appropriate vintage to do so. We held the tasting in the Nash and Brandon Rooms at the Institute of Contemporary Arts on The Mall with 67 wines representing a huge diversity of styles and maturity. They are almost certainly wines of an era and there were many, many wines of the night but a few that stood out were Angelus, Pavie, Lafite, Figeac and Montrose. A truly memorable evening. We celebrated Burns Night with a proper Burns Night Feast in the dining room of London’s oldest restaurant, Rules. An evening drinking through 7 vintages of Chateau La Conseillante with the instantly charming, knowledgeable and passionate Marielle Cazaux kicked off the year. The vintage selection was fantastic and each paired beautifully with the food – some highlights were the 2016, 2009 and 1990.Read the blog post
9th October 2018 – La Reboule de Rhone
After the success of our Burgundian Paulee we decided to continue the revelry in similar format and focus this time on the Rhone. Traditionally, 'La Reboule’ is an end of harvest celebration in France’s Northern Rhône Valley where grape harvesters, winemakers, and cellar staff get together at the end of a successful vintage to toast with great food, wine, and merriment. We hosted our very own at HIX Oyster and Chop House with a typically fantastic HIX feast and some equally fantastic wines were brought along including M.Chapoutier ‘Le Pavillon’ Ermitage 1993 – in imperial and Paul Jaboulet Aine Domaine de Thalabert, Crozes-Hermitage 1990.Read the blog post
20th September 2018 - Clos des Goisses Private Dinner with Charles Philipponnat
Champagne Philipponnat has long been a perennial favourite of BI and much of this can be put down to a wine which gave Philipponnat its fame: Clos des Goisses, a Pinot-dominated Champagne which comes from a unique 5.5 hectare vineyard in Mareuil-sur-Ay. We were delighted to be able to have Charles Philipponat host a client dinner with us to celebrate these Champagnes, the line-up included the extremely rare 1993, 1992 and two Cuvee 1522 millesimes from the legendary 2002 and 2008 vintages.
13th June 2018 - Louis Jadot Clos Saint Jacques Dinner at the 10 Cases
Clos Saint Jacques is one of Jadot’s most exciting Burgundy vineyards so we wanted to introduce clients to a vertical of their wines. The vintages we drank, all from magnum, were 2001 and 2007 with starters followed by 2005, 2009 and 2010 with the main course and a final comparison of 1992 and 2011 with the cheese course. These wines never fail to surprise and delight with their consistency and ability to show vintage characteristics so clearly.Read the blog post

A private dinner in celebration of the Mazzei family’s wines, specifically those of Siepi, Castello di Fonterutoli’s flagship label, for a private dinner with 25th Generation owner of the estate, Giovanni Mazzei. we were privileged to be able to try a rather healthy cross-section of Siepi’s vintages from 1999 to 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2015 and finally the pre-release 2016.Read the blog post
8th March 2018 – Domaine Pierre Usseglio et Fils Dinner at Hixter
For lovers of Châteauneuf du Pape and the Southern Rhône Domaine Pierre Usseglio really is the cream of the crop, so when the dinner opportunity arose to share some of their incredible wines with winemaker Thierry, we jumped at the chance. Thierry and his wife Sandrine brought with them some of the greatest examples of what their Domaine can really do. Wines included their Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Tradition, Cuvée de mon Aïeul 2006 and the Réserve des 2 frères 2005.
22nd February 2018 – Bollinger VVF 2007 launch lunch
Bollinger is a Champagne house which should need little introduction, but it is their Vieilles Vignes Francaises or VVF which really gets us excited. To celebrate the pre-release of the hotly anticipated 2007 vintage we hosted a lunch with Metzendorff to share a few bottles.
16th February 2018 – Chateau Lynch-Bages Lunch at Cabotte
This was a great and rare opportunity to be joined by winemaker John-Charles Cazes to host and share a few legendary bottles of Lynch including 2009, 2005 and 2000.
8th February 2018 – La Paulee – BYOB Dinner at St John Bread & Wine
La Paulée is a Burgundian celebration held at the end of the harvest with most festivities traditionally held in Meursault where winegrowers, neighbours and friends all met together annually with food, wine and festivities. We decided to bring these celebrations to London to pull a few corks on some great bottles of Burgundy over a Burgundian feast at St John. Some vinous highlights included Meo Cros Parantoux 2002 and 2005 Savigny Les Beaune ‘Aux Vergelesses’.Read the blog post

20th October 2017 – Rioja Tasting
Again, following the subsequent hype from our Rioja trip in June 2017 we wanted to celebrate the Rioja producers we visited on our trip and many more. The tasting was hosted at our office with Jamon from Brindisa and Spanish cheeses from Paxton & Whitfield. The producers in attendance were Abel Mendoza, Olivier Riviere, Remelluri, Marques de Murrieta, Vina Tondonia, Roda, La Rioja Alta, CVNE and Muga.
19th October 2017 – Muga Dinner at Barrafina
After a trip to Rioja in June 2017 we wanted to try and recreate a memorable dinner at the Muga family bodega even down to serving the wine of the trip, the 1976 Muga Reserva. We hosted the dinner in the private dining room at Barrafina with Eduardo Muga. The main event was a much anticipated Prado Enea vertical of 2009, 2004, 2001 and 1994. Read the blog post
4th May 2017 – Private Dinner with Erni Loosen at Cabotte
A fascinating, albeit a little mad, evening at Cabotte with 11 Riesling aficionados. We started with a pre-dinner tasting of some of Erni’s sweet Rieslings starting with the Kabinetts (2015 and 2005), then the Spatleses (2015 and 1991) followed by an Auslese (1976). Over dinner the dry Rieslings were the stars as we drank 3 of the Qualitatswein Trocken Grosses Gewachs Reserves (GGR). Finally we finished up with a beerenauslese which had astonishing freshness – the 1976 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Beerenauslese. Read the blog post
9th Feb 2017 Bordeaux 10 Years On: 2007
We started the year in the typically indulgent fashion with our decade-on horizontal of leading Bordeaux. It would be fair to say that 2007 was one of our less hotly-anticipated 10-year retrospectives; and yet in many cases, we were proven well and truly wrong. Whilst they lack the weight and intensity of a top vintage like 2000 or 2005, the best are showing true balance. 50 private clients and almost 20 top wine writers joined us Chez BI for this fascinating, insightful tasting.Jane Anson blogMichael Schuster blog
