Leroy Bourgogne Blanc 2015
2015 was a bona fide stellar vintage for White Burgundy, and when you think of the finest producers of the “great white” there is one name which automatically leaps to mind: Leroy.
That said, there are few people lucky enough to drink the wines of this revered domaine on a regular basis. Although I have had the good fortune to taste a number of their wines – and each one was a vinous experience to remember – I have never been able to buy any Leroy for myself…until I discovered their Bourgogne Blanc.
A great domaine is capable of producing excellent wines even in the tougher vintages, so when you combine the illustrious wine-making of Leroy with an exceptional vintage like 2015, the result is sheer magic. What’s more, it is not just the top tier that benefit, but every wine under their name. After all, when you’ve got the reputation of Burgundy royalty to uphold, Lalou-Bize Leroy isn’t going to tarnish her crown with a wine which doesn’t cut the mustard, so the level of care which goes into her Bourgogne Blanc is unprecedented. The nature of the 2015 vintage means that this beauty is able to hold its own alongside even some 1er Cru offerings from recent years.
Aside from the red-capped Domaine Leroy, this Queen of Burgundy also oversees the white-capped Maison Leroy and Domaine D’Auvenay (which both sell for stratospheric prices). Today we are delighted to offer a significant parcel of her 2015 Bourgogne Blanc at a price more closely aligned to every day drinking that massively over performs, an unequivocal no brainer.
