Chateau Grand Village 2010
One of our go-to wines in recent years, in terms of value, has been Chateau Grand Village. This sumptuous Cab Franc/Merlot blend from Bordeaux’s tiny commune of Mouillac is made by the team from none other than Chateau Lafleur. Indeed the vineyard management and vinification techniques are a mirror of the practices, honed at Lafleur over the past twenty years, that have helped to cement Lafleur’s status as one of the world’s most lauded and coveted wines.
Relatively unknown until the Guinaudeau family (in charge of Lafleur since 1985) took over in 2000, in the last couple of en primeur campaigns, Grand Village has been one of our biggest selling wines.
We have managed to pick up a parcel of their stunning 2010 vintage. One of the all-time great Bordeaux vintages; characterized by wines of immense poise, polish and structure, Grand Village 2010 is no exception. At just 190 pounds per case it is one of the best bargains you will see all year.

Tasting Notes and Scores
A sleeper of the vintage, this wine from the Guinaudeau family (the proprietors of Lafleur) may well be the best I have tasted from them. A blend of 75% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, the wine is more opulent and concentrated than previous vintages. With powerful kirsch and black raspberry fruit notes intermixed with hints of underbrush and licorice, this beauty should drink nicely for 5-6 years. Drink: 2013 - 2019

The Grand Village has a fragrant bouquet of redcurrant and fresh strawberry fruit that is defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy but soft tannins. It is nicely balanced with crisp cranberry and light strawberry notes, the finish simple but fresh as a daisy. Tasted November 2012.
A soft and silky wine with a hazelnut, chocolate and berry character. It's full-bodied, with lovely depth and fruit. Gorgeous finish. Tangy and pretty. 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot.
