Winner of the Chardonnay Trophy at the 2010 Decanter World Wine Awards, Cullen Wines is one of Australia’s best producers of premium wines, producing elegant, biodynamic wines with a distinct personality. Cullen’s 28 hectares of vineyards are located in the Wilyabrup part of Margaret River, a region known for its premium cool-climate wines, with Cabernet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon and Semillon growing particularly well.
Founded in 1966 by Di and Kevin Cullen, the winemaking is now managed by their daughter Vanya. Passion and a strong sense of responsibility to the land define Vanya’s organic and biodynamic approach to viticulture, whilst pioneering environmental initiatives led to Cullen becoming Australia’s first carbon neutral winery in 2007. Vanya’s philosophy is to make wines that are the best expression of the vineyard, with the maritime climate, rocky soils, dry farming and biodynamic practices combining to create the individual and diverse wine styles that characterise Cullen. Wines are now made exclusively from the Cullen Estate Vineyard (planted 1971-1976) and the Mangan Vineyard (planted 1995-1997).
