The Podere Salicutti estate sits in a large natural amphitheatre with a spectacular view of the Orcia Valley and Mount Amiata. The estate produces both a Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, produced using entirely organic methods and minimal intervention in the winery. As is the case with so many ‘cult’ Brunello producers such as Salvioni and Soldera, the belief in maintaining contact with the region’s rural roots and taking considerable care of the local ecosystem is central to the management of the estate. The resulting wines are both concentrated and elegant, with a supple, perfumed femininity which is quite at odds with some of the region’s ultra-masculine wines.
