San Guido

Background

The wine from San Guido is Sassicaia – more famous than the estate from which it comes. It is a true original Super Tuscan, ranked no higher than a vino da tavola in the official Italian classification, produced from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cab Franc; it is one of the finest expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon in Italy.

Production is high and quality is uniformly excellent so it's not a massive challenge getting hold of some. A good thing, as this is not only a reference point in Italian wine production, but top quality wine that should feature in everyone's cellar.
