Vieux Ch Certan

Background

Vieux Château Certan is unquestionably one of Pomerol's superstars. Located in the heart of the plateau in Pomerol, it is surrounded by some of the best in the appellation; Petrus, Conseillante, and L'Evangile, amongst others. The wine is made by Alexandre Thienpont, nephew of Jacques at Le Pin. Alexandre is a quiet, understated man who lets his wine do all the talking. He took over the estate in 1985, but it is really since 1998 that he has been on his best form.

Unusually for a Pomerol, Vieux Chateau Certan contains a high proportion of Cabernet Franc, which explains its elegance and finesse. This is a glorious estate that makes truly pleasurable drinking wines, and life is too short not to have a few vintages of VCC in your cellar!
