Gosset Grand Millesime 1996
Tasting Notes and Scores
Cool, youthful aromas of wet stone, cinnamon bread, lime, tangerine and menthol. Deep, chewy and rich, with bright acids throwing the spicy cinnamon toast and mineral flavors into sharp relief. Impressively oily, ripe and full, but still painfully young, with truly three-dimensional texture and superb thrust. This should evolve in bottle for years.

Slightly high-toned, oak-spicy aromas of pine, orange oil and tangerine. Urgent and highly concentrated; still an infant but already shows superb oily ripeness. Comes across as less full than usual for Gosset due to the bracing acids of the vintage, but this has outstanding extract and layered texture. Explosive, near-painful finishing fruit stains the palate with ripe citrus oil flavors sharpened by powerful but harmonious acidity.

Early a grand and concentrated, oily, full-bodied wine. The flavor is a fine balancing act between softness and freshness. Nuts, toffee, and honey were early recognizable aromas in this wine. Suddenly fully ripe and Bollinger deep chocolate saturated and impressive.
