Le Gay 2002
Tasting Notes and Scores
-Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide No 7
This dense ruby/purple-colored wine is one of the most successful wines of the vintage for this appellation. With a firmly structured personality and deep, sweet plum, fig, black cherry, and kirsch notes with some cassis in the background, this is a generously endowed, moderately tannic wine that should be at its best between 2010 and 2020.
This is rather muffled on the nose: blackberry, a touch of leather, undergrowth and a hint of fennel. Moderate definition. Medium-bodied, fine red-berried fruit, leather, cedar, good structure. Masculine, swarthy but coalescing all the time in the glass, even the nose gaining clarity. This Le Gay needs time. One to lie down but great potential. Tasted October 2009.
