Lignier Michelot - Nuits St Georges aux Murgers 2014
Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2014 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgey includes around 20% whole cluster fruit and is matured in one-third new oak. It has a very sweet, showy, almost volatile nose that needs to find more control by the time of bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet core of black cherry fruit interlaced with white pepper and fine tannin with a silky smooth finish. I just hope the aromatics gain more composure by the time of bottling. Drink 2017-2029.

Sweet spot. Here too there are notes of menthol and wood on the ultra-earthy and spicy aromas of game and various purple fruit scents. The robust and tautly muscular broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration before terminating in a quite firmly structured but not really austere finish. Once again patience will be required as this is tightly structured. Drink 2026+.
