Tasting Notes and Scores

Wine Advocate
94-96

Wine Advocate May, 2011 The Chateau Suduiraut has a comparatively rich, botrytized bouquet with dried honey, pineapple and a touch of Seville orange marmalade, with exquisite definition and focus. The palate is well-balanced, with a viscous texture and a good level of botrytis, demonstrating fine minerality and tautness. Dried mango, quince and spice all interlace the focused finish, which is long in the mouth. Tasted against its peers, this has a higher level of intensity and focus. A superb follow-up to the sensational 2009. ()

Wonderful nose, very citrus fruit zest; beautifully balanced, fresh, moderately concentrated middleweight; sweet without excess, concentrated, vital, long across the palate, unctuous in texture but with a lovely, lively defining acidity, plenty of botrytis complexity, and excellent Noble Rot spiced length; vivid Sauternes; of great finesse and class and with terrific persistence, a beautiful Suduiraut! Slightly less opulent style than many recent vintages, very much to my taste – digeste - and with great length too. A great Suduiraut, and if this is indeed representative of the final blend then even better than the 2009. Though, as Jean Rene put it “this is a complicated comparison” i.e. not an either or. 2016-40+ [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2011]

Really big and rich, with lots of raw date, glazed pear, creamed peach and fig aromas and flavors. Very lush and long, but also clean and round despite its heft. —J.M.

Expressive fruity nose in this top Sauternes with ripe orange, apricot and pineapple. Candied orange peel, white peach and orange blossom. This Sauternes is elegant and with wonderfully balanced sweetness on the palate. Good structure and length. Vibrant acidity and lots of spice in the excellent finish. Excellent. Drink or hold.
