Carillon, Louis - Bienvenues Batard Montrachet 1997
Tasting Notes and Scores
This was quite golden in color. The nose is fully mature but with no oxidation with that lovely honeysuckle quality of a fine Bienvenues followed by rich, naturally sweet medium full flavors of fine complexity and length. That said, this is not quite at its normal outstanding quality level, even accounting for the less than stellar vintage. In short, a delicious easy to like effort that is drinking perfectly now. Another bottle opened recently was completely oxidized and yet another was right at the limit of what I would call acceptable.
