Tasting Notes and Scores
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Folatières from Louis Jadot has a vibrant and energetic bouquet with just a touch of reduction, though it blows off to reveal a compelling bouquet with lovely mineral, granitic scents. The palate is crisp and fresh, well balanced with impressive power and intensity without compromising the tension and race. There is clearly fine length here. This is a Puligny-Montrachet with grand ambition. Yes, it's still a little oaky and more modern in style, but I have faith. Drink 2018-2030.

This remains moderately reduced and while extended aeration does help, it never completely dissipates. There are background notes of exotic yellow fruit and white floral scents but it's necessary to aggressively agitate the glass to reveal them. There is very fine volume and acceptable intensity to the very rich and mouth coating flavors that possess at attractive mid-palate mouth feel though the finish lacks a bit of energy. This is a notably ripe and somewhat awkward wine that I would be inclined to drink young as it risks becoming heavy with time. I would also suggest decanting this for at least 20 minutes. Drink 2017+

Very lifted, 'spiny' nose. Excellent palate weight without any heaviness. Sweetness and acidity seem well married. Such a charmer with some herbal notes. Really lovely wine with great energy. Long and neat. Drink 2015 to 2021 (JR)
